One of the main tasks of IWBio is to represent industry in applied research activities on microorganisms and provide advice and support to research-promoting institutes and bodies in the conception and implementation of research programs. In addition to this, IWBio also provides information and promotes information transfer between members and research centers. As a platform for interested corporations, IWBio also supports their endeavors to participate in biotechnological research funds provided by the federal government and the State Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). In addition to this, IWBio provides a forum for information exchange between research networks and research centers on the one side and industry on the other.
